KAIJA PAPU

Skate and Rebuild was a community art piece, that evolved around a miniramp built by the Skate and Rebuild -group. It was situated in the center of Tampere Finland during the years 2012-2013.

 

Tampere city had published a skateboarding plan in 2007 that consisted of 14 new skateparks that was supposed to be built by the year 2013. No action was taken towards building these parks and the existing ones were not being maintained. Building a place of our own with the local skateboarding community has helped us reclaim our space and do what we love.  

We organized events at the ramp and some special sessions for kids. Hukkatila Ry had their Summerplace next to our ramp and we did close collaboration with them.

The group was founded by me and other members were Jukka-Pekka Jääskeläinen, Mikko Kyrönviita, Liina Luoma and Erno Peltonen.
